2023 Nissan Rogue vs 2023 Subaru Forester

2023 Nissan Rogue vs 2023 Subaru Forester

The Nissan Rogue and Subaru Forester are both outstanding mid-sized five-passenger SUVs. Let's take a look at how the 2023 Nissan Rogue stacks up against the 2023 Subaru Forester.

Engines

The Nissan Rogue absolutely has a more powerful base engine than the Subaru Forester. The Rogue is powered by a 1.5-liter turbo three-cylinder which generates 201 horsepower and 225 pound-feet of torque with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive optional, paired to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The Forester's 2.5-liter four-cylinder generates 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque with standard all-wheel drive, also mated to a CVT.

Base Technology Features

The 2023 Nissan Rogue has a range of technology features at the base level that Subaru does not offer on the Forester's base trim level. The Rogue comes with keyless ignition and standard parking assist right at the base trim level. While it's possible to get keyless ignition and remote start on the Subaru Forester, you will need to pay up for a higher trim level and add-ons to gain these features. The Forester does not offer parking assist at all.

Cargo Convenience

Both SUVs offer cavernous cabins that can comfortably fit five adult passengers, and both offer split-fold back seats to enhance their cargo space. The Rogue, however, offers a bit more cargo space behind the back seats (31.6 cubic feet versus the Forester's 28.9 cubic feet), and an available hands-free motion-activated tailgate that opens with just the swipe of a foot under the bumper. The Forester only offers a power liftgate, which you will need to manually unlatch. The 2023 Nissan Rogue is clearly the more impressive midsize crossover SUV.
